The Magnificent Namba Park

As a landscape architect, i'd love to see all those references by books or internet about landscape especially it's design all over the world. Perhaps all of you my landscape architect mates, know about it before. But for me, this is my first time to see this, the artwork landscape design of Namba Park, Osaka, Japan.

According to what Wikipedia says, Namba Parks consist of two element buildings, office and shopping center. It was conceived as a large park, a natural intervention in Osaka's dense urban condition. Alongside a 30-story tower, the project features a lifestyle commercial center crowned with a rooftop park that crosses
multiple blocks while gradually ascending eight levels. In addition to providing a highly visible green component in a city where nature is sparse, the sloping park connects to the street, making it easy for passers-by to enter its groves of trees, clusters of rocks, cliffs, lawn, streams, waterfalls, ponds and outdoor terraces. Beneath the park, a canyon carves a path through specialty retail, entertainment and dining venues.

It feels so great to see the innovative and creative design of Namba Park. Hat's off for the architect who have made it. Seems like they knew how to build a pottential bussiness on the tight limited area. So many layers that we can see up above the area (even the building of office and shopping center itself can't be seen) and there's much green area we can see. So people not only working and do shopping, but they also can enjoy the open space area around the rooftop.

Night view of namba park. The lighting postion make it not seen creepy esp in the open space area.

Not only on rooftop park, they even have putted some green inside and make it as a vertical garden.

The great sirculation concept design is when we can design a lot of entrances area from various ways for visitor to come.

View from the rooftop. I believe that people who were there would getting amazed by the design.

If we talk about rooftop, people would think that the weather gonna be so hot and they could get burn if they spend a day there. That's why it looks so quite deserted. But in case at night?

See? people will come to enjoying night city view from rooftop and they won't feel so hot and get burn spend till late at nigh there.

Overall, it is inspiring me about landscape design. Hope one day there is more landscape architect (instead of architect) who will make it, better than this.
